TREM Devotional 22 June 2025 – God Qualifies The Unqualified

Wisdom For The Day Devotional 22 June 2025 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – God Qualifies The Unqualified

TOPIC: God Qualifies The Unqualified (TREM Devotional 22 June 2025)

“…and Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;” (Matthew 1:5 KJV)

MESSAGE:

Rahab, a popular prostitute in the city of Jericho, took a good look at her life and must have imagined how she would end up. She saw an opportunity when the servants of God who came to spy on the land lodged at her house. She looked at herself and realized that of all the people in her city, God had chosen to visit her. She decided that was the day of her salvation, and not just her, but her family also. Eventually, Rahab’s name is documented in the lineage of Jesus Christ. That is an uncommon grace. Indeed, God qualifies the unqualified! So, you see, you are the only one who can rule yourself out. God has not rejected you, He does not reject anyone.

Don’t ever write off anyone, no matter how bad their situation is. As long as a man is still sitting under the teaching of the word of God, don’t underestimate him. It was Job who said a tree can be cut down but as long as that tree perceives the scent of water it will sprout again and bring forth (Job 14:7-9). The water here is a type of the Word of God.

Ruth is another example. Ruth and Orpah were married to the sons of Elimelech. They both married into the same family, and were introduced to the same God as a result. Unfortunately, they both lost their husbands, and at that crossroad, that moment of great difficulty with nothing to look forward to, Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye and went back to her gods.

But Ruth said the future MAY not look colourful and it MAY appear as if nothing will ever happen, but I would rather stay connected to God Almighty. I will not let go of His love for me. She chose to walk by faith and not by sight. Ruth went with God and today a whole book of the bible is dedicated to her. And not only that, Ruth’s name also made it into the lineage of Christ. That is an uncommon grace.
