TOPIC: Report To God (Open Heaven for Teens 20 September 2024)

MEMORISE: Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. – Jeremiah 33:3

READ: 2 Chronicles 14:1-6

So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.
And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:
For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.

MESSAGE:

King Asa experienced peace throughout his reign because he built fortified cities in Judah, and God gave him peace. However, after ten years of peace, the Ethiopians came out against him with a strong army. The battle seemed impossible to win, so Asa cried out to God:

“O LORD, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O LORD, you are our God; let not man prevail against you. So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.” – 2 Chronicles 14:11-12 (ESV)

HYMN 15: Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour

1 Pass me not, O gentle savior
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by.

Chorus:
Saviour, Saviour
Hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling
Do not pass me by.

2 Let me at thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contribution
Help my unbelief.

3 Trusting only in the Thy merit
would i seek thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
save me by thy grace.

4 Thou, the spring of all my comfort
More than life to me
Whom have I on earth beside Thee
Whom in Heav’n but Thee?
