TOPIC: How To Pray (2) (Open Heaven for Teens 14 August 2024)

MEMORISE: Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; he is holy. Psalm 99:5

READ: Revelation 4:8-11

  1. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
  2. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,
  3. The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,
  4. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

MESSAGE:

Today, in continuation of the series I started yesterday on how to pray, I will explain what you need to do after praising God.

After praising God, you should go on to worship Him. You worship God by telling Him who He is, and to do this, you need to know the Scriptures. If you read through the Old Testament, you will discover many of God’s names. For instance, Jehovah means God, and there are different words that are added to Jehovah to mean different things. It is interesting to know that God revealed most of His names to His people personally. For example, when God appeared to Moses on Mount Horeb (Exodus 3), He revealed Himself as I AM THAT I AM. When He provided a ram for Abraham as a sacrifice in place of his son, Isaac, He revealed Himself as Jehovah Jireh, which means our Provider.

God has revealed Himself to me in many ways, so I have my own way of worshipping Him. However, these expressions do not have interpretations in the English Language. This is why I sometimes switch to my indigenous language when I pray.

KEY POINT: If you do not have an understanding of who God is, either by revelation or by studying His word, you cannot know how to worship Him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Nehemiah 7:21; 1Corinthians 9:1-18

HYMN 44: Deeper, Deeper In The Love Of Jesus

  1. Deeper, Deeper In The Love Of Jesus
    Daily Let Me Go;
Higher, Higher In The School Of Wisdom,
    More Of Grace To Know.

Oh, Deeper Yet, I Pray,
And Higher Ev’ry Day,
And Wiser, Blessed, Lord,
In Thy Precious, Holy WorD.

  1. Deeper, Deeper! Blessed Holy Spirit,
    Take Me Deeper Still,
Till My Life Is Wholly Lost In Jesus,
    And His Perfect Will. [Refrain]
  2. Deeper, Deeper! Tho’ It Cost Hard Trials,
    Deeper Let Me Go!
Rooted In The Holy Love Of Jesus,
    Let Me Fruitful Grow. [Refrain]
  3. Deeper, Higher, Ev’ry Day In Jesus,
